Greetings, The final version of the Florida’s 2016 Student Textbook and Course Material Survey (PDF) <https://dlss.flvc.org/documents/210036/361552/2016+Student+Textbook+Survey.pdf/fa58795e-f2d3-4fc7-9f07-a7e1b31fbbcd> is now available. This survey is the third in a series of surveys from 2010 through 2016 that shed light on the impact high textbook costs are having on college affordability, student actions to address cost, as well as college success and completion. In 2016 alone, more than 22,000 students from all of Florida’s public colleges and universities voluntarily participated in the anonymous online survey. You may also find the recently completed 2016 Action Plan for Building a Statewide Infrastructure to Support Open Educational Resources in Florida's Public Institutions of Higher Education (PDF) <https://dlss.flvc.org/documents/210036/361552/FinalOATERReport9_21_16.pdf/15ad856d-9ef2-4e82-8b53-eecd4574881b> of interest. The report identified recommendations for how the state could work toward building partnerships and a statewide infrastructure to support the use of OER. There are three parts to the report: 1) Review of national and international OER projects and organizations, with recommendations drawn from these sources 2) Recommendations for FLVC on establishing a statewide OER support infrastructure. 3) Results of the statewide survey of librarians, instructional design staff, and teaching faculty, and made suggests additional steps for moving forward based upon those results.
