Micro-learning event for those new to Open Education

Dear BCOEL, Hello and hope you are all keeping well. This week we are launching a new event designed especially for faculty who are completely new to Open Education. The Open Education Challenge Series will be 10 challenges that can each be done 10 minutes or less and will be held over the next 5 weeks: September 15-November 9th, 2020. Please help us with an outreach to faculty who are new to Open and who might benefit from participating in this event. Hello all, As promised, here are the proposed 2020/21 BCOEL meeting dates: * Monday, September 21, 2020 - 1pm-2pm * Monday October 19, 2020 - 1pm-2pm * Monday, November 23, 2020 - 1pm-2pm * Monday, January 18, 2021 - 1pm-2pm * Monday, February, 22, 2021 - 1pm-2pm * Monday, March 22, 2021 - 1pm-2pm * Monday, April 19, 2021 - 1pm-2pm * Monday, May 17, 2021 - 1pm-2pm * Monday, June 14, 2021 - 1pm-2pm I haven't included dates for December, July, and August, since many people take vacation during these months but we can certainly reevaluate closer to the date. Hi all, I can offer some thoughts. Note that I am not on this list serv so I can’t see if others have already responded. I haven’t seen clear standards, but BCcampus usually lists adapting authors as co-authors or contributors. However, the current BCcampus cover designs don’t include author names at all. In the case like Erin described where edits were quite minimal, it might be more appropriate to add something like the following to on the cover page, “Adapted by [instructor’s name].” The existing cover page looks good! How to Deal with Author, Adapter, Contributor in Open Texts

Hello All, So, I'm running into an issue when developing open textbook adaption projects with faculty. Is there any standard for how to attribute author vs. adapter when creating an open textbook cover. For example, a faculty member has a adapted an open text but hasn't written and\y significant changes, etc. to warrant the text being a full new edition. His work however needs to be recognized. Hi all, TRU's Bookstore seems to purchasing VitalSource for eBook textbooks. Are any other institutions doing this? It looks students would pay a flat fee for all textbooks through it. Thoughts about it and its impact on OER? Thanks, Brenda
