Zero Textbook Cost Pathway to Associate of Science Degree by BCcampus

Dear colleagues, A Zero Textbook Cost pathway to an Associate of Science degree<https://bccampus.ca/projects/open-education/pathway-to-associate-of-science…> is now available, based on existing OER that align with core requirements for Associate of Science programs in B.C. This pathway is designed such that a student could feasibly complete an Associate of Science degree without spending any money on textbooks, as they would only use OER and other free resources. In addition, BCcampus is awarding a grant to Thompson Rivers University so that they may develop their own institution-specific pathway. Dear colleagues, I am writing to let you know about online office hours offered by BCcampus to educators in need of support shifting from face-to-face to online instruction. We are offering three sessions this week, the details of which are included below. Working Together, Learning Together Invitation: To educators and anyone doing the work of “pivoting online” who would like to drop in with questions, and/or to hear others’ challenges and solutions. Who is hosting: BCcampus — a passionate group of instructional designers, learning technologists, administrators, and more! Hi there fellow Open Educators, A week of awareness about Open Education, OER and Open Educational Practices is starting next week (Open Education Week<https://www.openeducationweek.org/events>) To mark the occasion, BCIT is hosting one event on Monday, at the Library, to kick off the week: Open Tools for Open Education. Wikipedia is a multilingual, web-based, free encyclopedia based on a model of open community-generated knowledge. This edit-a-thon is seeking to improve the coverage of Indigenous writers on Wikipedia and to encourage diverse community editors to actively work to dissuade assumptions about Indigenous literature by raising their profile in this increasingly influential information source. Attendees will pick authors from a list of Indigenous authors who have approved their inclusion in this event and edit/create their Wikipedia articles. The event is free, catered, and features guest speakers who will share their experiences as Indigenous authors. Please bring your own laptop. Dear colleagues, BCcampus has identified gaps in available open educational resources (OER) for marketing programs in British Columbia. BCcampus will distribute grants to B.C. institutions or their representatives (e.g., faculty members, articulation committees, teaching and learning centres, libraries, and OER working groups) in B.C. and the Yukon for the development of open educational resources in marketing that will contribute to the development of B.C.’s first Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) program in marketing.
