This resource was replaced by the [ https://open.bccampus.ca/find-open-textbooks/?uuid=1d31f3b7-dd9f-4f47-97eb-… | Self-Publishing Guide ] , added in February. * Find attached a zipped file containing the editable files for the BCcampus [ https://bccampus.ca/files/2018/05/OpenEdInfoSheet_Spring2018_03.pdf | Open Education Info Sheet – Spring 2018 ] Reviews * Starting March 18, 2018, the licence for published reviews changed from CC BY-ND to CC BY. (Older reviews still retain the CC BY-ND designation.) This was done to more easily share reviews with other collections. This information, along with a statement clarifying that the copyright for reviews is held by the reviewer, has been clarified on the [ https://open.bccampus.ca/call-for-proposals/call-for-reviewers-2/ | Review an Open Textbook ] web page on our website. * When open textbooks are replaced with new editions, PDFs of the reviews for the older edition are now compiled in a zip file and posted by the new version of the textbook. Fall 2018 timetable launches (with a new feature for the Zed Cred)

Hello everyone, A quick update: The Fall 2018 course timetable launched this morning and, thanks to support of our wonderful colleagues in the Registrar’s office, it now includes a new field that makes it possible for students to identify course sections that have zero required textbook costs and qualify for the Zed Cred. To see how this works visit: https://twitter.com/KPUopen/status/1010284480022507520 The growth in the Zed Cred initiative has been tremendous, as we have gone from 80 sections this Spring to over 300 sections this Fall. These sections represent 191 courses from 36 departments and 5 Faculties. A massive THANK YOU to the many of you who are supporting or involved in this initiative. Open anatomical atlas and anatomy images - expression of interest

Dear Faculty and Staff, BCcampus Open Education is reaching out to all faculty members and staff involved in the teaching and support of anatomy and healthcare post-secondary curricula in B.C. in response to a request from the [ http://www.oeconsortium.org/ | Open Education Consortium ] to identify individuals interested in collaborating on a project that would involve the co-creation of an open anatomical atlas of anatomy images. Background Anatomy is a basic discipline for all medical and paramedical fields around the world. Anatomical illustrations are essential for the teaching and learning of anatomy and are universally relevant in all countries. Good quality artist-created anatomical drawings are available in anatomical atlases and textbooks but are mostly copyrighted. There are very few good quality anatomical images available under an open license. If you think this is a good idea and want to participate in the creation and implementation of an open anatomical atlas, please respond to this email by July 15. A response to this email does not commit you to anything, it merely indicates an interest in this project. This time, in addition to our Introduction session, we will also be offering an Intermediate 1 session focusing on how to import certain files into Pressbooks and exporting a variety of file types. For faculty and staff who do not have experience using Pressbooks, it is strongly recommended that they take the Introduction webinar before the Intermediate. These two webinars are conveniently scheduled so they can be taken on the same day. BCcampus Open Education Accessibility Toolkit- update and new version!

Great news!! The BCcampus Open Education [ https://opentextbc.ca/accessibilitytoolkit/ | Accessibility Toolkit ] has been revised and updated. Most significantly, this version includes step-by-step instructions on how to meet web accessibility guidelines when authoring books in Pressbooks. New funding for OER for Adult Basic Education announced

Dear colleagues, The Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills, & Training has just announced funding to support OER development for Adult Basic Education. This is very exciting news for us at KPU, especially for our colleagues in the Faculty of Academic & Career Advancement, many of whom are already active users of open textbooks. This funding provides more support to adapt and create new OER where necessary.

Two new grants from BCcampus to support Open Education at KPU

Good afternoon everyone, I am happy to end this celebratory week with some more happy news. BCcampus recently announced the recipients of their latest round of open education grants. Among the 9 successful proposals they funded were two proposals from KPU. The first is an OER Create grant to help support the development of an Ancient and Medieval History open textbook (a project led by Tracey Kinney) while the second is an OER Sustainability grant that will help us develop a specialized service in the Library to support OER creation. This round involved the largest number of grant submissions to BCcampus to date so it is nice to see our leadership in this space being recognized with external support.
